Prior to JVP, Itay completed 13 years of military service as an officer in the Israeli Ministry of Defense Directorate for Defense R&D (Mafat). In his last role, Itay managed the Biological Engineering R&D portfolio, involving academia, start-up companies, defense industries, I.D.F., and international partners.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Itay took part in the national task force, helping to scale testing capabilities, and reduce time and costs while maintaining sensitivity and increasing safety. Later, he acted as Head of the Technologies branch in the National Information and Knowledge Center of the Ministry of Health, emphasizing the characterization of new variants, diagnostic technologies, drugs, vaccines, and long covid.
Itay is soon to receive an MSc in Molecular Genetics from the Weizmann Institute of Science and holds a BSc in Biology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s “Etgar” excellence program.
