Top Leadership from The People’s Republic of China visited Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP) at its JVP Media Quarter, for an up-close look at one of the leading venture capital firms in the “Startup Nation.”

The official Chinese delegation was comprised of several top members of the Chinese government. Leading the group was Liu Qibao, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC (Communist Party of China) Central Committee, and Secretary of the CPC Central Secretariat. The visit was organized by the Chinese Embassy in Israel. The delegation chose to visit the JVP Media Quarter to gain insight into the “Startup Nation” economic success story, including Israel’s world-renowned technological prowess and innovation.

JVP General Partner Kobi Rozengarten briefed the group about the Israeli high tech ecosystem and its venture capital industry. He also spoke about JVP’s unique investment model, sharing the reasons why JVP has been ranked one of the most consistently performing venture capital funds in the world. Yoav Tzruya, a partner in JVP’s Media and Cyber Labs incubators in Jerusalem and Beer Sheva, spoke to the delegation about JVP’s uniquely successful incubator models.

Qibao said that he was impressed by the way the JVP incubator model helps turn startups into significant companies, opening them up to larger markets. He also praised JVP’s approach to investment and innovation. Rozengarten highlighted the enormous potential for cooperation between China and Israel. “We think there is a way to build a win-win situation between Israeli high-tech and VC’s and China,” said Rozengarten. “We see more and more Chinese concerns looking at Israel as an excellent hub of innovation and for important investment opportunities. We are looking forward to bolstering this important partnership.”

During the visit, the delegation met with two JVP portfolio companies: ThetaRay, a cyber-security startup and AnyClip, which allows millions of users to search and view any moment from their favorite films.
