Following the end of the school year, 44 families gathered in the Animadav Forest to celebrate the end of a remarkable year. Children from all of these families volunteered throughout the year in JVP’s Bakehila community program.

These Year-of-Service volunteers initiated, and participated in, many social activities in neighborhood schools, such as operating the student council, school newspaper, school library, active recesses, special events such as holidays and memorial days, ceremonies and end-of-year parties.

The goal of all of these activities was to increase involvement of students in their schools’ projects and to improve the social atmosphere in the schools.

The event was attended by Erel Margalit and his wife Debbie, founders of the Bakehila organization, who greeting the volunteers and announced to their parents: “Be proud! Your children are the new pioneers.” As this emotional event came to a close, the Bakehila team parted from the volunteers amidst hugs and tears.
