Sixteen MetroWest companies were named to Deloitte & Touche USA LLP’s Technology Fast 50 list for New England, and Marlborough-based Sepaton Inc. was given a special "Rising Star" award.
"To rank on Deloitte’s Technolgy Fast 50, companies must have phenomenal revenue growth over five years," said Steve DiPietro, Partner with Deloitte & Touche in Boston. The Fast 50 firms made at least $50,000 in sales in 2001 and at least $5 million in sales in 2005.
Sepaton made the same revenue growth over a three-year period, earning it the Rising Star award.
Deloitte & Touche, a professional services firm, handed out the 10th annual awards at the Newton Marriott Hotel Wednesday night.
Sepaton, which makes data protection software at its 22,500-square feet headquarters at 400 Nickerson Road in Marlborough, made more than the required revenue amounts both years, according to Bob Iacono, the company’s chief operating officer. The private company employs 75 of its 90 employees locally, he said.
Much of the Sepaton’s sales are driven through Hewlett-Packard channels due to an original equipment manufacturing agreement Sepaton has with the company, Iacono said. Sepaton’s software, which protects data in a disc environment that virtually resembles tape-based storage, is packaged on HP hardware and sold as an HP-branded appliance, he said.
