Petaluma, CA, June 14, 2004 -
Mahi Networks, an industry-leading supplier of Metro Core Aggregation Systems (“MCAS”), announced today that SCANA Communications Inc., the telecommunications subsidiary of Columbia, S.C.-based SCANA Corporation (NYSE: SCG) has deployed Mahi’s Mi7 MCAS to aggregate and switch multiple SONET rings and provide vendor redundancy to its metro and regional networks.
“The Mi7’s scalable architecture and the capability to converge our transport and packet switching layers, along with simultaneous support for both IP and OSI DCC technologies in SCANA’s multi-vendor SONET environment were important elements that influenced our decision,” said Oscie Brown, general manager of SCANA Communications. SCANA Communications is part of the larger family of SCANA Corporation, a company with over 150 years experience in delivering outstanding customer service in the Southeastern United States.
“This Mi7 installation represents another important step in the evolution of carrier networks from one of standalone network elements patched together with coax cables to an architecture of interconnected rings that is easier to build and operate while also providing data service delivery benefits,” said Chris Rust, president and CEO of Mahi Networks. “We’re proving to the industry that there is a better way to build networks. We are proud and delighted to be part of the SCANA Communications network.”
