How to volunteer
The Importance of Volunteering
Volunteers are the foundation of any organization for social change. Therefore, recruiting them and assigning appropriate work to them while continually maintaining their motivations up are crucial to any successful program.
Volunteer work should be regarded as a professional mission which requires a high level of commitment, basic training and ongoing support.
The relationship with volunteers must combine professional expectations, as required from any other individual who works in the organization, along with an understanding of the uniqueness and emotional aspects of volunteer work.
The volunteers are the most significant agents of change, with their ability to implement the organization’s values and principles in other areas in which they are active.
Training and Support Program
Every volunteer interested in becoming part of Bakehila undergoes a personal interview during which certain factors are assessed: commitment, background, prior experience and ethical values.
During the course of the Year of Service the volunteers receive training in the form of four meetings.
In addition, all volunteers receive individual feedback from the project coordinator supervising them.
The feedback takes place twice a year and includes a comprehensive evaluation of the volunteers’ work, achievements and goals for the next period, as well as feedback from the volunteers themselves regarding their work and their integration in the organization.
